ApoMac 1.1 - Tiger by Hebejebelus ApoMac 1.1 - Tiger by Hebejebelus
Apophysis On Mac Version 1.1 - Tiger

So, here you go. Basically, this is just a launcher for Wine, pointed straight at Apophysis. This is the 3D hack, but it can be replaced by any version you like, by going to ~/Library/Application Resources/ApoMac/Apophysis/ and replacing the Apophysis.exe with another version. For me, this version worked best, though.

You need an Intel Mac (MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, recent Mac Minis, and recent iMacs) with X11 installed to use this. There's unfortunately, no easy way to get it to work on PowerPC Macs. I don't think there's even a hard way. Sorry to PowerPC users, there's nothing I can do. Or maybe there is? Find something, and I'll sure as hell try.

Good luck, have fun, and please comment if it doesn't work for you. I've been known to make mistakes.

Oh, note me if you use, and please favourite if you make artwork.

THIS VERSION IS FOR TIGER USERS.
This will also work on Leopard, but it's larger, and it's slightly slower.

I've tried both Tiger and Leopard, but when I download it and try to open it, it says that there's no such directory or file.

Hi, I downloaded and installed this app, but every time I try to open it just get this error message:

"Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly."

Any suggestions? (I don't know what an X server is, but I have X11 installed)

Ummm.

//Ummmmmm//.

Okay.... what version of OS X do you have installed?
Also, does the X11 icon appear in the dock when you open the application?

I'm running 10.4.11
And yes, the X11 icon does appear in the dock when opened.
However, it doesn't open when Apomac is opened (if that's what you meant).

Also, when the error appears I'm given the options: "Ok" or "Edit" however, edit opens scripteditor which in turn tells me that it can't do anything with Apomac (because it's locked, or something to that affect) and promptly closes.

I'd love to be able to have apomac running, but don't waste too much time trying to help me if it's too much trouble.

Thanks anyway

I'm getting a similar message as well. Oh well, I may have to just break out my PC to use this program on it again. That's why I keep the PC around.

I'm having trouble getting this to work (a shame, really, as I would like to be able to do fractal work on a mac). I have X11 installed, but I get an error message every time I try to run ApoMac. There is a giant, long file path to a resource that ApoMac is not seeing, and therefore cannot run without.

Here is an image of the error message: [link]

Dude, this is awesome!! Thank you so much for this!! You're helping out a lot of people with this =D!! But I gotta ask these noob questions:
Do I need to install the whole Xcode package or only the x11 sdk package in order for this to work? And do I need to have Wine installed in order for this to work? Or do I need Darwine?

And once again, thank you very much dude!!

(Sorry about the slooooooow reply, I've been up to my neck in schoolwork and life in general)

Well. You only need to have X11 installed, the program //should// do the rest of it. But. It's buggy...

no it doesnt actually :noes: downloaded and installed into my apps just as instructed by the read me, but then i get this freaky message about a "apomacfirst.sh" file/directory missing :(

FYI im using an intel mac osx 10.4.11 :bucktooth: maybe this is the wrong version for me.. but i got the sense it wasnt a version problem but a missing component in the install package/dmg thingy.

well I work at both home and school and school uses macs, so that was what I had wanted but I found Oxidizer, which is not really what I wanted, it is severely limited. I just usually render the images at home now and take them to school to photoshop and stuff, so it all works out.

That... sucks. On the less dark side, you're the only person that's happened to. So at least it works for most people. Sorry, though. I really can't help.
